Here are the resumes of a cross section of our staff. We support training and development at all levels.
Our staff are trained to the highest standards and all have, or are studying towards, rigorous educational qualifications in child care and follow the SSSC codes of practice.
Dorota Przeworowska
Nursery Manager
My name is Dorota and I am the Nursery Manager at Roseangle House Nursery. My main role is to oversee the day-to-day running of the Nursery.
Childcare is my passion and I love working with children and supporting them to develop their lifelong skills. At University, I completed a BA in Social Work and then worked in a Health Centre for 8 years. I moved to Scotland in 2007 with my husband and 2 children and started my new adventure!
I have always wanted to work with children, so I completed my NC and HNC in Early Education and Child Care, PDA in Childhood Practice and a SVQ4 in Childhood Practice and I look forward to the continual challenges that leadership entails, to broaden my experiences.
I enjoy spending my spare time with family and friends. I particularly enjoy cooking and reading.
Debbie Houghton
Deputy Manager
Hi, I’m Debbie, I am the Deputy Manager of Roseangle House Nursery. I love the challenges and commitment that the job entails. My main role in the nursery will be working with Dorota and staff to fully support the flow of our nursery. I have worked in child care on and off for twelve years.
I have gained a NVQ3 in Child Care, Learning and Development and a HNC in Early Education and Child Care.
I love working with children and I thrive to watch them grow and learn. These children are our future and my job is essential to contribute to their early years.
I am married with three children and my spare time is mostly spent with them and our Miniature Schnauzer when we love to go for beach walks.
Patrycja Bankowska
Hi I’m Pati, I am a Room Leader at Roseangle House Nursery. I have 5 years’ experience of working with children.
I love working at Roseangle House Nursery as it feels like a home for children and a family for staff. My daughter has been attending this nursery too since last July and it is amazing to see how much the nursery has helped her to progress with her development. This is what I love about this job most, seeing children’s happy faces when they come to the nursery. I love to work with all staff as they help each other and take the best care of the children. My daughter loves coming to Roseangle House Nursery.
I enjoy the challenges working in a childcare environment brings and ensure their care and wellbeing is at the forefront of my daily task.
In my spare time I mostly spend this with my partner and our almost 2-year-old daughter. We love going to the parks and playgrounds. I also enjoy cooking and baking with some help from my daughter.
Catherine Hunter
Within my job role as an Early Years Practitioner at Roseangle House Nursery, I do many things to help the children learn both physically and emotionally. I make sure all children feel welcomed and safe within the nursery, building a bond with them so they feel comfortable and confident to express themselves. I have almost five years’ experience within the childcare sector at Roseangle House Nursery. I started my career with an apprenticeship during my time here and I now hold the qualification of SVQ3 in childcare. Some things I enjoy doing is spending time with both my family and friends and taking my niece for days out.
Emily Belford
Hello my name is Emily, I work in the Investigators room. I am an Early Years Practitioner and I have been qualified for just over 2 years.
I have taken part in many training courses including, Child Protection, First Aid, Pre Birth to Three and risk in play.
In my spare time I enjoy planning fun days out with my friends, going on dog walks, occasionally playing a small tune on the saxophone and recently I have learnt how to crochet.
Gill Hood
Hi, I’m Gill and I am an Early Years Practitioner. My main role is to support the children and provide a safe stimulating environment to help with their development.
I have always had a passion to work with children. I love to watch them grow and develop their life long skills.
I am recently married and have 2 children. I like to spend my time with them going on walks and baking with them. I also enjoy cycling and travelling.
Jack Robertson
Hi I’m Jack, I’m an Early years practitioner at Roseangle House Nursery. I’ve been working with Roseangle since I finished school in 2017 and love it. Since then I have gained my SVQ3. While working at Roseangle I have spent the majority of my time with the under two year old age group. In my spare time I enjoy teaching swimming and playing water polo.
Kirsty Gray
My name is Kirsty and I’m an Early Years Practitioner. From a young age I have had a passion for working with children. I started helping with a drama group for children and this inspired me to do a foundation apprenticeship in social services for children and young people, which then led me on to do my HNC in Childhood Practice. All this has given me 5 years’ experience. I have enjoyed my time working with children and can’t wait to see where it takes me. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my friends and family.
Gaynor Ferguson
Hi I’m Gaynor and I am a qualified Early Years Practitioner. I have 8 years of childcare experience and I have worked at Roseangle House for 6 years. I would describe myself as a happy bubbly person. I love working with the children and it’s a rewarding job being able to create special bonds with each child. I am qualified in a SVQ3 and I read articles or documents which help keep my knowledge up to date. In my spare time I like to read, go for walks with my family, and also spend time with my boxer dog who loves cuddles and playing with his toys.
Sotiria Bourni
I am an Early Years Practitioner and I have been working with children for almost 7 years. I have childcare experience from working in Greece and now at Roseangle House Nursery.
My qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Studies from the University of Derby, a two-year certificate in Early Childhood Education from Greece and trainings about Early Childhood Education, which I attended during and after my studies.
I always enjoy working with children and as the years go by and I am spending more and more time with them, I realise how amazing it is to see children flourish. It’s an amazing experience to see children learn new things about the world, overcome their fears, become independent and I feel so blessed to be part of this process.
My hobbies include traveling, making crafts at home, usually as personalised gifts for friends, going to the cinema, photography, camping and volleyball.
Megan Derkacz
Hi, I’m Megan and I have been a part of the Roseangle House team for over a year now and I love it! I am qualified to SVQ3 level.
I previously worked for a charity for 8 years prior to working at the nursery and worked with children from 18 months – 17 years old. I have gained a lot of experience over the years working closely with children and families and I thrive on seeing the children develop in a happy and nurtured environment.
As I have gained an HND in Contemporary Dance Performance, in my spare time I enjoy using these skills to teach a range of styles that include ballet and street dance. I also love to travel and explore lots of different countries and cultures.
CJ Thomson
I am a Room Leader at Roseangle House Nursery. I have been working in childcare for 9 years and I am qualified to Level 3. I plan to further my knowledge in childcare in the future by starting another qualification.
I love working with children and helping them to develop and grow. My main focus is to ensure that the children I care for are happy, safe and secure. I enjoy seeing the pride on children's faces as they learn a new skill.
In my spare time I like to go for walks and spend time with my family and friends.
Karen Boyd
I'm Karen, I completed my HNC at Dundee college in 2006. I worked in various nurseries after qualifying as a supply EYP before changing direction to work in banking. I decided to come back to childcare in February 2018. I love working with children. Being part of their growth and development is so rewarding. I really enjoy the outdoors, going for walks and spending time with my two children.
Aliesha Coutts
Hi my name is Aliesha and I am an Early Years Practitioner at Roseangle House Nursery.
I have over 5 years of childcare experience in and out of the country and qualified with a SVQ3 in Social Services (Children and Young People) in 2017.
Some of my interests include singing, dancing , baking and coaching rugby.
Zoe Hammond
My name is Zoe and I am a Modern Apprentice at Roseangle House Nursery. My job involves providing quality care to children and working with my team to ensure that the nursery is a safe, welcoming environment for all.
I have always been passionate about working in childcare, and my experience of being a big sister is what inspired me to work in a nursery environment. I find it fascinating to watch children thrive as their skills develop, and value the benefits of building rapport with the children and their families. I am working towards a qualification at SVQ Level 3 so that I can become a fully qualified Early Years Practitioner and continue my practise in this field of work.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, baking and painting.
Laura Douglas
Hi, my name is Laura and I am a Support worker at Roseangle House Nursery. I am currently working towards a HNC in Childhood practice. I have volunteered with my local brownie group for 5 years. I have also supported young children with additional support needs during dance classes. I like working with children because I love seeing them grow and develop in their own different way. In my spare time I like walking my dog, dancing and watching musicals.
Renne Shields
My name is Renne, I am a Modern Apprentice at Roseangle House Nursery. I have a National 5 Early Years Learning and Childcare qualification and currently working towards gaining my SVQ3 in Childcare. During my time at school I done some work experience in a nursery and taught a dance class to primary school pupils. I also feel I have more experience from looking after my younger brothers and nephew on a regular basis. I enjoy working with children because I love to see them grow and develop with my help and time, my hobbies are spending time with my friends and family.
